Welcome to the class web page for BA4136 Current Issues in Business, taught at the department of Business Administration at the Middle East Technical University. The course is taught by Asst. Prof. Dr. Adil Oran.

The course is a non-traditional course and aims to help hone skills that graduates will need to be successful in Business life. By examining articles from the Business press in light of theories and models from various areas of Business Administration, students will have a chance to apply the information they have been accumulating throughout their education to understanding current business issues.

   Please note the following:

bulletThe course is a 1 credit course that may be taken as an overload course.
bulletStudents must be graduating Seniors.
bulletCourse capacity is limited to 10 students. Consent of the Instructor will be required to enroll.

Participants will find appropriate business articles, summarize and analyze them and write a 2-3 page paper on the subject. At the class meetings some students will be asked to discuss their subjects with the class after which the rest of the class will share their own views on the subject.

Students will be required to identify the major parties involved in the issues, their driving forces and possible directions that events may take. This analysis will help students practice and sharpen important analytical skills that they will need to be successful in the business world. Additionally, the in-class interactions will give the students a chance to utilize their presentation and discussion skills.

Announcements will appear here!

The course will consist of weekly discussion sessions in which topics selected by the class will be discussed. Details about the actual course conduct can be found in the syllabus. Students taking the course will be expected to make contributions to class discussions every week. Papers prepared each week will be placed on the class web page to be shared with all interested parties.

The presentation material for the subject will be made available as notes prior to class and should cut down significantly on the need to jot down everything, thus allowing you to do some actual thinking. You are encouraged to participate and ask questions (don't be worried, I'll tell you if we don't have time), occasionally I will force you to take part (so it's not a good idea to take long naps in class!).
